STINGHER 10 GT CUSTOM SPORT REVIEW - BY POWER BOAT AND RIB.STINGHER 10 GT CUSTOM SPORT
Any self-respecting RIB spotter
will probably be wondering why we are featuring a boat originally tested a decade ago. The fact is that the new version of the Italian-built 10m Stingher, the GT Custom Sport, is worthy of further review. It has the same 10m non- stepped hull that has been unchanged since the original 2006 32ft anniversary model.
However, apart from the forward storage, whose ski locker and deep central cavity can swallow a mountain of kit, the boat has changed significantly.
Needless to say, much of this is down to contemporary styling, though the original boat was hardly lacking in looks. The GT Custom Sport, with its carbon-fibre imprint tubes, striking red-upholstered Scot seats and teardrop console, certainly catches the eye. What I love about the MRL Stingher range......

STINGHER 900GT CUSTOM SPORT HARDTOP REVIEW - BY POWER BOAT AND RIB.Stingher 900GT Custom Sport Hardtop
It would not be incorrect to say that
RIBs
have changed considerably over the
last decade. That does not mean that
conventional jockey-seated rigid inflatables
have lost their following, just that the big
inflatable has widened its appeal. Call it the Italian dimension. The Italians were a
close second behind the Brits during the RIB
revolution of the 1970s, and although they
went off in a different direction, we have seen
a wide selection of Mediterranean-style RIBs
gracing our shores for some time as they have
proven increasingly popular with the rank and

900GT STINGHER REVIEW - BY POWER BOAT AND RIB.The Stingher 900GT
The Stingher 900GT is
considered to be an effective
blend of Italian style and British
practicality, as Greg Copp
describes …
Built in Italy and rigged and fitted
out by MRL in the UK, this is one
of a line of tough luxury RIBs with
an impressive range of sensible design
features. Only the hull and tubes are Italian
built – everything else, from the synthetic
teak decking to the engines, is specified
and fitted by Southampton-based MRL.
Having plenty of experience in this field,
MRL have created a very ‘driver-focused’
boat, from shock-absorbing Scot seats
to a wide range of engines from every
manufacturer. Historically the RIB may be a
British concept, but the Italians also share
a passion in this field, and this shows in the

800GT STINGHER REVIEW - BY POWER BOAT AND RIB.The Stingher 840GT Super Sport
The Stingher 840GT Super Sport is
a boat I know almost
as well as my own. I
am familiar with every
detail of its shape, form
and purpose. I remember the
locations of braces, hatches and
screws. I can recall the internal
dimensions of lockers and, having
tested it in one form or another
three times in as many years,
I can bring to mind exactly the
ways in which Ed Pedley at MRL
has overseen its development.
We’ve seen folding plastic
cup holders and grab handles
replaced with glittering steel;
we’ve seen the doubling up of gas
rams in the storage spaces; we’ve
seen the rigging of a user-friendly,
one-handed aft bench lid; and
we’ve seen the gradual elevation
of the features list to incorporate
items such as a carbon-style collar
and LED strips in all the main
